ABOUT LEXI B.

Hi I’m Lexi B.

I’m a professional storyteller, thought-leader, and self-proclaimed freedom fighter. I like to say that I’m militantly-free, which is as free as anyone can possibly be. This just means that I’m able to say what I feel is right, not just for me, but also those around me, without fear or the feeling of complacency overriding what needs to be said.

Back in the day, I worked as a college career counselor motivating students to tell their stories and highlight their greatness. It was amazing to see them grow into their truth through that process. I also founded an online magazine and built an online community that is now packed with thousands of Black women in the tech world who share their insights, their challenges, their successes and most importantly, their need to be heard. These women inspire me and I am honored to facilitate a safe and brave space for them to speak their truth.

I accidently landed in Silicon Valley working for NetApp alongside many black women living out their life stories inside corporate America and most recently I’ve spoken at events inside of some of the largest tech companies.

Through these spaces, I’ve found a common thread: I use storytelling to ensure others’ voices are heard and seen as they work to live out their truths.

As a modern day freedom fighter and storyteller, I’ve set the same spark in the people around me. That is my passion. It’s my truth.

The truth of being a freedom fighter.

As a child, I remember hearing the stories about Ida B Wells, Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, and so many other wave-making voices. They were headstones of the movements that shook the world into recognition that not all voices were perceived as equal. In my little eyes, the only difference between me and Ida, Fannie and Malcolm was that they had a stage and a microphone. I knew that I could still raise my voice and demand for space to be heard.

As years have passed, I found that my little eyes weren’t so wrong and neither was my voice. My thought went from “I can be a freedom fighter” to “we can all be freedom fighters.”

We all have a voice. There’s no reason not to use it. In fact, we have a responsibility to use it.

My job? It’s to stand wherever I currently am proudly and use my own voice to motivate others to use theirs. We all have the responsibility to be freedom fighters in our society. I’m ready to help you see how you can use that power to make space to humanize the voices around you, too.
